Exciting Program Updates from Sausalito and Our Sister Cities

Sakaide, Japan

The 2019 Sakaide-Sausalito program’s “Submittal Window” for applications for this summer’s Student Delegation to Sakaide has now closed. We’re going through our internal due diligence, but it looks like we have a great group of delegates once again! Delegates will travel to Sakaide in late July as part of a city-to-city delegation, representing Sausalito and continuing our mission of forging long-lasting relationships between families here in Marin and in Sakaide – our 31st year in doing so!

Viña del Mar, Chile

In September 2019, eight women business entrepreneurs from our sister city Viña del Mar, Chile, will study and participate in the Sausalito Arts Festival. For three days, they will learn community engagement, festival operations, and volunteerism. Following the Arts Festival, they will participate in local business and leadership workshops, touring several Sausalito businesses to learn retail and marketing operations and interacting with the Sausalito community to experience Sausalito culture and engage in business mentoring opportunities. We look forward to welcoming them to our city!

Cascais, Portugal

On May 18, please join us for Fado at The Pines V, a fund raising benefit to support the 2019 Youth Sailing Exchange Program. Fado ao Centro from Coimbra, Portugal will be bringing their unique style of Fado to Sausalito for the first time. Reserve your tickets now. In July 2019, the youth sailors from Clube Naval in Cascais will visit Sausalito as part of our ongoing educational student exchange program. We are excited to welcome these young sailors and participate in the Sausalito 4th of July Parade — don’t miss it!

May 18: Fado Night at the Pines

Fado at The Pines V is a fund raising benefit to support the 2019 Youth Sailing Exchange Program between Cascais, Portugal and Sausalito, California. The Sausalito Yacht Club will be hosting youth sailors to Clube Naval Cascais in July 2019 at the Sausalito Yacht Club. Buy your tickets now for Fado at The Pines 2019.

June 14: Jazz and Blues by the Bay

Jazz and Blues by the Bay is back! This summertime concert series is famous for great music, stunning views and is a great time to spend with family and friends. Join us on June 14 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at Gabrielson Park in Downtown Sausalito.

October 13: Sausalito Wine Experience

This year’s Sister City Fundraiser and the Third Annual Sausalito Wine Experience, www.sausalitowineexperience.org, will take place Sunday, October 13th 3-6pm. This is a first class afternoon and evening in the Alexandrite Suite and JUNTO at Casa Madrona. To add extra drama and excitement to the afternoon is Fleet Week and the Blue Angels show.

Again the venue is the beautifully renovated Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa overlooking the SF Bay. The tasting will be followed with the Vintners’ Dinner in JUNTO sponsored by Poggio. The 2019 Honorary Co-Chairpersons are Bill Price (Kistler, Gary Farrell, Three Sticks) and Bart Araujo (Accendo, Trois Noix, and Wheeler Farms Wines). All together, there will be 14 premium wineries pouring with small bites from our favorite local restaurants and an exclusive seated Vintners Dinner by Poggio.
