Monica’s involvement in Sausalito Sister Cities began in 2011 when she visited Sakaide as part of the Sausalito Sakaide Sister City delegation. She has represented Sausalito on several subsequent delegations to Sakaide. She now serves on the Sister Cities Inc. Board representing Vina Del Mar and is the Chair of the Vina Del Mar Operations Council. She has led delegations to Vina Del Mar in Chile and has led the program activities for the Vina Del Mar when they have visited Sausalito, San Francisco, and Marin County.

Monica has served on several Boards of non-profit organizations including the Bay Area YMCA, San Francisco’s Chamber of Commerce, Yerba Buena Alliance, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters among many others.

As a partner in Urban Real Estate Equities, an advisory, investment and development firm, she has continued to build value for clients and investors in the San Francisco commercial market, through acquisitions, renovation and re-use of many historical landmark properties.  She has a California broker’s license and has extensive experience in commercial real estate covering areas of overall operations and project management, financing, contracting and sales, tenant representation, landlord representation, Corporate and Real Estate Advisory services and development. She has worked with companies like AT&T, Bechtel Corporation, Blue Shield of California, California Pacific Medical Center and many more. From 1999 through 2006, Monica was voted one of the ‘Most Influential Women in San Francisco’ by the San Francisco Business Times.  She formed Urban Real Estate Advisors in 2006 which joined forces in 2008 with MK Equities to form an effective and comprehensive commercial real estate services and investment firm.

In 2008 she completed an MBA at Pepperdine University, and majored in Political Science and Business at UCLA.  A devotee of continuing education, Monica is now learning Spanish, taiko drumming and enjoying Creative Writing.
