The Marin Independent Journal recently reported that Sausalito welcomed three firefighters, or “bomberos,” and eight businesswomen from Viña del Mar, Chile, as part of the Sister Cities Program’s exchange. The visit fostered collaboration and learning, allowing the communities to share firefighting training, fire management practices, entrepreneurial insights, and business strategies.



Sausalito exchange program mentors Chilean entrepreneurs, firefighters

Kevin Bedwell, a firefighter from Viña del Mar, Chile, visiting Sausalito this week, said that in many ways, firefighting is the same anywhere in the world.

“When you are talking with another firefighter, there’s like no barrier,” he said, “because we speak the same language.”

For the first time, the nonprofit Sausalito Sister Cities is hosting a group of firefighters from the region as part of its cross-cultural exchange program.
