Jock Rystrom moved from Chicago to Sausalito in 1974. He retired from electrical contracting in 2022. He has been a member of Sausalito Yacht Club for 40 years. He has served on the SYC Flag Officers and Chairs (FOC) board for 8 years, was Commodore in 2018, and is an officer on the Sausalito Youth Sailing Foundation since 2006. When not involved with the Youth Sailing Program, Jock enjoys sailing, golf, motorcycling, and skiing.

Jock became involved with the Sausalito/Cascais Sister Cities in 2015 when the Youth Sailing Exchange was being implemented between the Sausalito Yacht Club and Clube Naval de Cascais. At that time, he was Sail Training Chair at SYC. In 2018 when he was Commodore he traveled as a chaperon with the youth sailors going to Cascais and seeing firsthand what the youth sailors form Sausalito and Cascais were experiencing.

Jock believes the Sausalito/Cascais Youth Sailing exchange is a wonderful program which promotes cultural exchanges as well as sailing in a different part of the world which will give these young sailors memories that will last a lifetime.
