
Janet Chapman
Janet Faulkner Chapman has been involved in Sausalito’s Sister Cities Program since 2001, when her older son Harrison became an exchange delegate to the Sakaide Japan Sister City. Janet has served as Secretary of the Cascais, Portugal Operations Council since 2014 and has visited all three sister cities.
Until her retirement in July 2014, Janet served as Senior Vice President, Chief Privacy Officer for Union Bank in San Francisco, Prior to that, she served as Chief Privacy Officer for The Charles Schwab Corporation. Prior to leading the Schwab Privacy Office, she held senior management positions at Schwab in Marketing, Technology and Risk. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP).
Janet was also active in the data privacy and information security fields and chaired Committees of several financial industry associations as well as member of
the Board of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), an advisory board of the Ponemon Institute, and the National Cyber Security Alliance Privacy Committee. Ms Chapman was also named a Privacy By Design Ambassador by the Privacy Commissioner of Ontario Canada. In 2022, she was named a, IAPP Privacy Fellow.
She is active in multiple non-profit organizations Including serving as President, San Francisco Symphony League, and Chair, Sausalito Woman’s Club Preservation Society. Janet is an Emeritus Director of the non-profit Raphael House in San Francisco. She also served as Board President of Children’s Garden of California, now Sunny Hills Children’s Services.
Ms Chapman has traveled extensively in Italy and other parts of the world, and she is the author of two travel books about Italy.
She holds a BA degree from the University of Massachusetts, and an MBA in Business Policy from Boston University.
